Preamble

Whereas: BTernaryTau forgor to update by-elections to properly handle resignations that occur in quick succession. Whereas: Sitting Senators should be barred from running in by-elections.

By-Elections Hotfix Amendment

Part 1: Handling Successive Resignations

§1. Article 3 §4 of the Constitution shall have the following subsection added in between §4.2 and the current §4.3:

§4.3. If multiple by-elections are required, they must be initiated in the order that the vacancies arose in. §1. The Appendix §2.1 of the Constitution shall be amended to the following, with all of its subsections remaining unchanged: §2.1. Initialization will proceed as follows, where the Senators referenced in this section are those who were members of the Senate immediately after this vacancy arose, along with any Senators who both were elected during a by-election that was initiated prior to the initiation of this by-election and did not leave the Senate prior to the opening of this vacancy.

Part 2: Eligibility

§1. Article 3 §4 of the Constitution shall have the following subsection added in between §4.1 and the current §4.2:

§4.2. In order to be eligible to run in a by-election, a candidate must meet the eligibility requirements for running in a regular Senate election and must not be a non-interim Senator at the time that the Call for Candidates is posted.
