Preamble=

Whereas someone could potentially register to vote with any Reddit or Discord account older than three months (whether it belongs to them or not), this amendment shall allow for increased security within the voting system


This will allow the DVR to contact accounts to determine whether they registered to vote if they choose to.


This will require people registering to vote with Reddit accounts to comment on a specific Reddit thread on the SimDemocracy subreddit (as chosen by the DVR) in order to be able to be registered.


This allows for a one-time purge of Voter IDs for accounts no longer connected to SimDemocracy in any way.


This also clarifies an account involved in Voter Registration Fraud can have their Voter ID legally revoked if decided by a Judge.


For the sake of fitting with the naming of the original act, the Department of Voter Registration is referred to as DVR.

Voter Registration Act 2024 Amendment

Article 1: Amendments to the Voter Registration Act 2024

§1. Article 2, Clause 2.1 and 2.2 of the Voter Registration Act 2024 shall be stricken and replaced with:

§2.1. A Discord Account older than three (3) months that is on the SimDemocracy Discord Server at the time of the application being checked.
§2.2. A Reddit Account older than three (3) months that is on the SimDemocracy subreddit and has commented on the SimDemocracy subreddit within a specific thread designated by the DVR by the time of the application being checked.

§2. Article 2, Clause 1.1c of the Voter Registration Act 2024 shall be stricken and replaced with:

§1.1c. The DVR choosing to contact the Reddit or Discord account on the Voter Registration Application and the account not being able to confirm they tried to register to vote.

§3. A new Article shall be added to the Voter Registration Act 2024:

Article 7: Appendix

§1. DVR shall be authorized to conduct a one-time Voter ID purge before or during May 2025 to remove Voter IDs from the Voter ID registry which are connected to accounts that are no longer associated with SimDemocracy such that all of the accounts connected to the Voter ID have not been in the Discord Server for the last 90 days and are not in the Subreddit.

§1.1. Article 7 shall be excluded from any provisions and restrictions put in place in Article 4 of this act.

§2. By request to the archives commission, this Article shall be removed from The Voter Registration Act 2024 once the one-time Voter ID purge is complete.

§4. Article 4 Clause 3 of the Voter Registration Act 2024 shall be stricken and replaced with:

§3. This document shall not permit any reasons for the revocation of a Voter ID beyond the following:

§3.1. The discovery of false and intentionally misleading information, or an intentionally misleading lack of information, in a Voter ID Application or Voter ID Waiver form.
§3.2. An account found to be connected to the Voter ID was charged with Fraudulent Voter Registration by a competent court in SimDemocracy.
