Common Marketplace Act
Preamble
Whereas there is a need for a structured and transparent system for services, goods, and business advertisements within SimDemocracy;
Whereas a centralized platform for economic activity will enhance accessibility, efficiency, and fair trade among citizens;
Whereas clear regulations and oversight are necessary to ensure proper functionality and fairness of the marketplace;
Article 1: Title
§1. This act shall be known as the “Common Marketplace Act.”
Article 2: Definitions
§1. Stuff For Sale: A digital marketplace where citizens and businesses can post goods or services for sale.
§2. Businesses In Operation: A directory where active businesses can advertise their existence and offerings.
§3. Marketplace Moderator: An employee or contractor of the Department of the Economy responsible for enforcing rules and removing violations in the marketplace channels.
§4. Inactive Business: A business that does not respond to verification inquiries within the designated time frame.
Article 3: Establishment of Common Marketplace
§1. The Department of the Treasury shall create a channel called “Stuff For Sale” under the economy category on Discord.
§2. The Stuff For Sale channel shall be organized similarly to the news channel, and posts shall be removed by a moderator if inactive or discontinued.
§3. The Department of the Economy shall create a channel called “Businesses In Operation” under the economy tab on Discord.
§3. The Department of the Treasury shall create a channel called “Businesses In Operation” under the economy category on Discord.
§4. The Businesses In Operation channel shall remove inactive or discontinued businesses after a verification process.
Article 4: Stuff For Sale Channel
§1. Any SimDem citizen or business can post items or services for sale in the Stuff For Sale channel.
§2. Product or service posts shall include: Item/service name, Description, Cost, Any special conditions (if applicable), and Name of the seller (business or individual)
§3. The Department of the Economy shall assign, employ, or contract a moderator to ensure adherence to rules and remove unrelated or violating content.
Article 5: Businesses In Operation Channel
§1. Any SimDem citizen with a business can post in the Businesses In Operation channel to highlight their business and provide a digital storefront.
§2. Business posts shall include: Business name, Description of services/products, and Owner(s).
§3. The Department of the Economy shall assign, employ, or contract a Moderator to ensure adherence to rules and remove unrelated or violating content.
§4. Every two (2) weeks, business owners will receive a verification message from the Marketplace Moderator. If no response is given within one (1) week or the business is confirmed as discontinued, its post shall be removed.
Article 6: Implementation
§1. This Act shall take effect fourteen (14) days after passage.
§2. Future amendments shall require Senate approval.
