Preamble

Whereas, the misuse of pings diminishes their effectiveness by prompting users to unsubscribe,

Whereas, excessively broad or vague pings cause frustration due to unexpected or unclear notifications,

THE SENATE OF SIM DEMOCRACY PROCLAIMS

Article 1: Implementation

§1. This act shall take effect one (1) week after its passage by the Senate.

§2. For the purposes of this act, a "ping" is defined as a Discord notification directed at a designated role or group of users.

Article 2: Ping Regulations

§1. Default Discord pings shall not be used for routine or recurring events.

§1.1 An exemption to §1 is hereby granted to the EC, only for the purposes of public votes going live. The EC shall be allowed to use the @everyone ping for those messages to ensure maximum participation.

§2. From the act taking effect into perpetuity, pings lacking a clearly defined purpose or being overly vague shall be removed.

§3. To ensure clarity and prevent disruptions caused by ping removals or permission changes, users previously utilizing affected pings under §1 and §2 shall be provided more specific and appropriately categorized pings.
