JUDGMENT by Judge BaneofBacon[1]
[1]. The defendant, including any alternate accounts he may possess, is found guilty and is sentenced to a ten-year ban from both r/SimDemocracy and its respective discord server, effective immediately.
[2]. The crimes the defendant was charged with are among the most grave accusations our state can level against an individual. Upon reviewing the evidence, these charges were rightfully administered. During his time within our community, /u/we-are-allUno committed and conspired to commit acts that threaten the very institution our subreddit is based on: democracy. (CRA I.B.3, II.B.1) If his attempts to corrupt, manipulate, and frustrate the popular will were not enough, the evidence also illustrates that the defendant also behaved suggestively towards minors and harassed multiple other users (illegal under CSA I.B.3, I.B.5). The only reason these crimes against our state and violations of the Reddit Content Policy do not merit a lifetime ban from participation is because /u/we-are-allUno had the common sense to plead guilty. However, in my assessment, a ten-year ban is as good as a lifetime ban. If any person spends ten years isolated from something, especially a virtual community, it is unlikely that they will continue to focus their attentions on it. It is more probable that a person would forget or abandon any notion of becoming involved in our noble state, and thus effectively award themselves a lifetime ban. Indeed, SimDemocracy, or, perhaps, Reddit as we know it, may not exist at the conclusion of ten years’ time.
